Bianque, whose surname is Qin and original given name is Yueren, is a medical scientist lived in the Warring States of China at the beginning of the 4th century BC. As his medical knowledge was brilliant and he cured many diseases for the common people, he was conferred the title of  "Bianque", which is the name of a legendary well-known doctor in ancient times. in legend.

Bianque opposed to use wizardry to treat diseases. Summing up the experience of predecessors£¬he founded the Four Diagnostic Methods, namely looking, listening, asking and pulse-feeling (“Looking” means looking at observing the appearance complexion and tongue fur, “listening” refers to listening to the sound of the patient's speech and breath, “asking” refers to asking about the patient's condition, and “pulse-feeling” is just in the literal meaning.), which laid a foundation for the diagnoses of traditional Chinese Medicine. He was skillful in observing the complexioncountenance of the patient to diagnose diseases and estimate the disease evolvement. The story of "Bianque met King Cai"  was about Bianque's exact diagnoses on the evolvement of disease through observing the complexionountenance of King Cai.

Bianque once traveledoured the entire kingdom to cure diseases for the people. Being skillful in every speciality, Hhe was appreciated to be the exponent of the sphygmology in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Shiji (Historical Records) acclaimed Bianque to be the first doctor to apply the clinical pluse diagnosies by feeling the pulse to clinic. Recorded in According to "Bibliographic Treatise, Chronicles of the Han Dynasty"£¬Bianque had two works: Internal Canon of Medicine and External Canon of Medicine, but both of them had lost.

For thousands of years, numerous magnificent temples have been built in honor of Bianque, it is very unique in history that the number of commemorative temples for Bianque all over the country is so great, the history is so long and the scale is so magnificent. These relicswhich show people’s reverence toon this originator of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
