Detox Recipe for Foot Bath
Detoxification of the body can help to improve bodily functioning and give you a boost of energy. Detoxing the body can be done through diet and herbal supplements or with a hydrotherapy treatment such as a foot bath. Detoxifying the body with a foot bath helps to release toxins and metals that have built up in the body from foods, drinks and the air. This type of detox is beneficial to the internal organs and the circulatory and respiratory systems.
Fill a basin with semi-hot water. Different ingredients can be added to the basin of water to detox the body (see recipes below). Add preferred ingredients and soak feet for about 30 minutes. The foot bath draws toxins through reflexology. The bottom of the feet have the largest pores, which makes the foot bath an ideal detox option. Once soaking is finished, scrub feet with a natural fiber brush to remove any toxins that may be clinging to the bottom of the feet and to remove dead skin cells. Use only 100 percent aloe vera lotion for moisturizing the feet after the foot bath. Other lotions may have ingredients, fragrance or dyes which can them be reabsorbed into the feet. The foot bath should be used once a day for a week, initially. For maintenance, detox with foot bath once a week.
Mix 1 cup of sea salt, 1 cup of Epsom salts, and 2 cups of baking soda. Store in an airtight container to keep moisture out. Add 1/4 cup of this mixture to your foot bath to detox the body.
Mix 1 cup of Epsom salts and 2 tablespoons of ginger into your foot bath.
This recipe calls for 1 cup of Epsom salts, one peppermint tea bag and one chamomile tea bag. Add all ingredients to your basin of water and let the tea bags steep for 10 minutes. Then soak feet for 30 minutes. The tea detox is relaxing and soothing.
Mix 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 tablespoon of liquid soap, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 2 tablespoons of sweet almond oil. The honey acts as an antibacterial and antifungal ingredient. Honey also works well for exfoliation and moisturization. The oils soften the tough skin of the foot.
