Workshops that make candles with sheep fat used very simple tools, and materials of sheep fat and reed. First, the fat was placed in the pot and melted over a gentle fire. Then a reed was held In one hand and a spoon in the other to pour the melted fat onto it. When the fat congealed layer after layer, it became candles of varying widths. The average candle weighed about 50 to 60 grams. There were also large candles specially made for worshipping Buddha in the temples, along with candles for weddings and birthdays that were carved with the images of dragons, phoenixes or the longevity deity. |
