2008 Shanghai Ethnic Custom and Folk Culture Exposition was held from September 11 to 16 in Shanghai East Asia Exhibition Hall. The folk exhibition takes "carry forward national culture, exhibit folk arts, and display folkloric flavor" as its main content, featuring the theme of "beautiful flowers and full moon" which is full of mid-autumn cultural characteristics, so as to demonstrate the tenet of "uphold the national spirit, protect the folk custom, and return to the folk life."

The interactive part set in the exposition was quite eye-catching. "Folk artisans" from Shanghai, Suzhou, Taiwan and other places set up their own arena to show their unique skills. From woolen embroidery to hair embroidery, from pottery and lacquer to porcelain in the Han Dynasty, and there were Yixing purple clay teapots, fruit pit carvings from Zhoushan Village, and Qingtian stone carving...You name it, they have it, fully displaying traditional Chinese characteristics. The visitors showed huge interest in both the final products and the site operations, which made them feel the "legendary "ethnic flavor" in daily life.
