Chinese percussion instrument shops made and sold percussion instruments such as gongs, cymbals, big cymbals and bells. They usually conducted the sales in the front and produced the goods in the rear. Their signs were mostly the goods types. For example, this illustrated sign is a thin metal chain tied with two brass gongs, with a trailing red silk pendant. Alternatively, a shop would nail a brass cymbal on a black plate, with a trailing pendant under it. The shop would have its name written on the upper part of the plate. The black, red and yellow set each other off, attracting customers with their bright colors. |
